Website information

Privacy policy.

How SC Laser collects, uses and protects personal information.

Effective date:

SC Laser respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information is collected through this website and through enquiries, why it is used, who it may be shared with, and the choices available to you.

1. Who is responsible for your information?

SC Laser, operated by Sean Coniff, is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

Please use “Privacy enquiry” as the subject if contacting SC Laser about your personal information.

2. Information collected

SC Laser may collect information you provide directly, including:

  • your name, email address and phone number;
  • your company or site name and location;
  • details of the service you need;
  • machine details, serial numbers, photographs and fault information you choose to provide; and
  • correspondence, quotations, appointment details and service records.

The website also collects limited technical information through hosting logs and Google Analytics, such as browser and device type, pages viewed, approximate location, referring page, interactions and cookie identifiers. Google states that individual IP addresses from UK users are discarded before Analytics data is logged.

Contact details are not used for unrelated marketing without your permission.

4. Contact forms and service providers

The website is hosted by Netlify. When you submit the contact form, Netlify processes and stores the submission on behalf of SC Laser so the enquiry can be received and answered.

Personal information may also be shared with email, hosting and IT providers; Google for analytics; professional advisers where necessary; and authorities where legally required. Only necessary information is shared. SC Laser does not sell or rent personal information.

5. Cookies and Google Analytics

Google Analytics is used to understand how people find and use the website, but it does not load unless you select “Accept analytics” in the consent banner. If you reject analytics or have not chosen, no Google Analytics tag is loaded and no analytics cookies are set by this website.

If accepted, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies including _ga and _ga_<container-id> to distinguish users and maintain session information. Google documents a default expiry of up to two years.

Your choice is saved in browser local storage. Use “Cookie settings” in the footer to change it. Rejecting analytics disables further collection and removes SC Laser’s accessible Google Analytics cookies.

See Google’s Privacy Policy and the Google Analytics opt-out tool.

6. International transfers

Some technology providers, including Netlify and Google, may process information outside the United Kingdom. Information is protected using recognised safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or approved contractual clauses, as applicable.

7. How long information is kept

  • Enquiries that do not become customer work: normally up to 24 months after last contact.
  • Netlify contact-form submissions: normally deleted from the form dashboard within 12 months.
  • Customer, quotation, service and accounting records: normally up to six years after the relationship ends, or longer where required.
  • Google Analytics user and event data: up to 14 months, subject to account settings.

8. Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access, correct or erase personal information; restrict or object to processing; receive certain information in a portable format; and withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

To exercise a right, email contact@sclaser.co.uk. SC Laser may need to verify your identity. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

9. Security and changes to this policy

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information. No internet or email service can be guaranteed completely secure, so avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.

This policy may be updated when the website, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date above shows when it was last revised.
