Privacy Policy

How SC Laser collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Effective date:

SC Laser respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information is collected through this website and through enquiries, why it is used, who it may be shared with, and the choices available to you.

1. Who is responsible for your information?

SC Laser, operated by Sean Coniff, is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

Please use “Privacy enquiry” as the subject if you are contacting SC Laser about your personal information.

2. Information collected

SC Laser may collect information that you provide directly, including:

  • your name, email address and phone number;
  • your company or site name and location;
  • details of the service you need;
  • machine details, serial numbers, photographs and fault information you choose to provide; and
  • correspondence, quotations, appointment details and service records.

The website also collects limited technical information through hosting logs and Google Analytics, such as browser and device type, pages viewed, approximate location, referring page, interactions and cookie identifiers. Google states that individual IP addresses from UK users are discarded before Analytics data is logged.

3. How and why information is used

Purpose Lawful basis
Responding to enquiries, diagnosing faults and preparing quotations Taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and legitimate interests in responding to potential customers
Booking and providing servicing, repairs or training Performance of a contract
Managing payments, accounts, warranties and business records Performance of a contract and compliance with legal obligations
Protecting the website, preventing spam and maintaining service security Legitimate interests in operating a secure business and website
Understanding website use through non-essential analytics cookies Consent

Contact details are not used for unrelated marketing without your permission.

4. Contact forms and service providers

The website is hosted by Netlify. When you submit the contact form, Netlify processes and stores the submission on behalf of SC Laser so that the enquiry can be received and answered.

Personal information may also be shared with:

  • email, hosting and IT service providers used to operate the business;
  • Google, for website analytics;
  • professional advisers such as accountants or insurers where necessary; and
  • regulators, courts or law-enforcement authorities where disclosure is legally required.

Only the information necessary for the relevant purpose is shared. SC Laser does not sell or rent personal information.

5. Cookies and Google Analytics

Google Analytics is used to understand how people find and use the website, but it does not load unless you select “Accept analytics” in the consent banner. If you reject analytics or have not yet made a choice, no Google Analytics tag is loaded and no analytics cookies are set by this website.

If accepted, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies including _ga and _ga_<container-id> to distinguish users and maintain session information. Google documents a default expiry of up to two years for these cookies.

Analytics may collect page views, interactions, approximate location and device or browser information. It is not used by SC Laser to identify you by name. You can remove or block cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect website measurement.

Your analytics choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the website can remember it. Use the “Cookie settings” control in the footer at any time to change your choice. Rejecting analytics will disable further analytics collection and remove SC Laser’s accessible Google Analytics cookies from the browser.

For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and the Google Analytics opt-out tool.

6. International transfers

Some technology providers, including Netlify and Google, may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, information is protected using recognised safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or approved contractual clauses, as applicable.

7. How long information is kept

  • Enquiries that do not become customer work: normally up to 24 months after the last contact.
  • Netlify contact-form submissions: normally deleted from the form dashboard within 12 months.
  • Customer, quotation, service and accounting records: normally up to six years after the end of the customer relationship, or longer where required for tax, legal, warranty or dispute purposes.
  • Google Analytics user and event data: up to 14 months, subject to the Analytics account settings. Aggregated reports may remain available for longer.

Information may be deleted sooner when it is no longer needed, or retained longer where there is a legal requirement or an active dispute.

8. Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of your personal information;
  • have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected;
  • ask for information to be erased or its use restricted;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • receive certain information in a portable format; and
  • withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent.

To exercise a right, email contact@sclaser.co.uk. SC Laser may need to verify your identity before responding.

If you are dissatisfied with how your information is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

9. Security and changes to this policy

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information. No internet or email service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.

This policy may be updated when the website, service providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will show when it was last revised.
